Do we need an 800 MB CD for burning the ISO?

I've downloaded the ISO file but not sure if we need an 800 MB because i am trying with active ISO burner and it can not burn the disc.

Please tell me, this is the first time i am planning to use linux. I am a windows user.

I've always had no problems whatsoever using a regular 700 MB CD for all ISO files.

I downloaded the ISO and burnt it using infra recorder and i burnt it to a 700mb cd if the size of the ISO is under 700mb it will fit on a 700mb cd

What is the size of the iso you downloaded? if it is below 700MB, then check the settings in your burning program.
Or simply try another burning program.
(In past, I've seen some cd burning tools that allow only 650 mb data to be burnt on a 700 MB CD !)

I've always used a standard CD-R to burn ISO images, and never encountered any difficulty. The only time I use a DVD-R is when I'm testing Ubuntu Studio (which usually runs over 1 GB).

Just curious where are you getting it from and what version are you trying to get?
I see some versions ARE indeed bigger for whatever reason.

Get 9.10 Karmic Koala HERE (http://releases.ubuntu.com/karmic/)

Get 10.04 Lucid Lynx (latest release) HERE (http://releases.ubuntu.com/lucid/)

Also make sure to choose accordingly from 32 bit or 64 bit.
