Hello,Can anyone help please? I am a complete amateur user of Ubuntu and, a few days ago, in the "update" list, I was invited to upgrade to the latest version. I am not sure what that version was but, could it be 10.04 ? Since the upgrade, which took around 75 minutes, my laptop cannot now be started up. All I get, after the initial "bleep" etc is the following message.

""no suitable module for running kernel found"

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 6000. My experience of PC's is very limited but, somehow, I managed to get this message onto the screen.

""mount:mounting none on/dev failed:no such device. chroot:cannot execute/etc/apparmor/intranfs no such fikle or directory.

If anyone could advise, assist, or guide me on what to do next, I should be very grateful.
Thanks

@monkreed - is this before the grub screen? Are there any other messages, or is this the only one? Do you have other operating systems installed as well, or is Ubuntu your only one?

Hello and thanks for your comments. Much appreciated. The "grub" screen appears and, yes, this is the only message. No, I don't have any other operating system installed and, on this desktop I am using the familiar Windows Vista.
I do hope that it does not seem that I am disinterested but, I will be away for the next ten days so, will not be able to access this site or answer comments. However, immediatley I get back, if you, or anyone else can assist, I will give this very frustrating problem my full attention.
Thanks

When you get back, please boot your laptop using a Live CD. Then download boot_info_script from here: http://bootinfoscript.sourceforge.net/

When you have run the script, please post the content of RESULTS.txt here, surrounded by CODE tags.

Thanks
