View Full Version : downloading gnome?

I assume I'm missing some part of gnome, because I'm on Lucid Lynx UNE and have the option at startup to do a gnome session, but when I do that all I get is a completely blank screen (the computer works fine in UNE sessions). I installed gnome-desktop sharp from synaptic, which didn't do anything. I tried to download gnome itself from synaptic, but couldn't because it said it depended on both epiphany-extensions and swf-dec mozilla, and if each of those needed the other to be removed in order to be installed. I am pretty new to this so I have no idea what to do! So, please tell me: am I right that I'm missing part of gnome? Do I have to install "gnome" itself, or something else? And if I do have to install gnome, how do I deal with the fact that it depends on 2 browsers that apparently can't coexist? Any help would be really appreciated!
