Hi, All:
My computer: AMD 64 cpu, 2 sata hard drives, asus mb

Win XP pro 64-bit on 1st hard drive, have always run Ubuntu on 2nd hard drive. Have run dual boot successfully before with other versions of Ubuntu.

I chose ext4 as my file system with Karmic Koala and used Grub2 with that Ubuntu dual booting with Windows. Everything was great!

Along comes Lucid and I set it up as above and it is totally a mess. I can get into Windows from the Grub boot window, but when I choose Ubuntu I get the following:

-a blinking cursor for about 20 seconds
-then a message: gave up waiting for root device
- then it lists common problems (sort of greek to me) followed by: BusyBox v1.13.3 -some help commands and then:
- (initramfs) with a blinking cursor

I've tried rebooting and letting the timer run down and I've tried booting with Ubuntu as my choice immediately. All nada.

Anyone have suggestions?

I'm having the same problem. I don't get it the other version of linux (feisty) that I was using worked just fine with a dual boot (xp).
