Many of you may have seen this already but, I figure there are enough on here who haven't and wanted to share. I just saw it tonight for the first time. What a great movie about Linux!

It turns into a battle of egos between Linus and rms at one point, but it is a great documentary nevertheless. Love the way rms rebutts the free software is communist argument:p

Things have changed a *lot* since 2001. I would love to see a sequel/update of Revolution OS. Linux is now much more photogenic, what with the exlposion of different GUIs, and the huge improvements in user-friendliness and stuff actually working out of the "box" (so to speak). The original hardly showed the user experience of Linux at all, as I recall.

Revolution OS ranks up there as one of my fave documentaries next to the BBS Documentary (http://www.bbsdocumentary.com/).

I first caught Rev OS on Sundance around 2001, before it was released on DVD, and recorded it. Then with JTS Moore's permission I showed it to our LUG which loved it! I ordered it on DVD when it was released not long after that and have watched it probably a dozen times since. Great documentary, but I think it's about time for a new release to come out since SO much has evolved in the world of Linux since 2001.

Also for anyone who streams through Netflix it's available under the Documentary section. I just watched it again a few weeks ago through Netflix on our Wii.

- Freedom Downtime (http://www.freedomdowntime.com/) - Great doc by the guys at 2600

As for movies -
Pirates of Silicon Valley - VERY accurate in regards to the early days of Apple and Microsoft
Hackers - Yeah cheesy yet entertaining
AntiTrust - Is that Bill Gates ??? Lots of Open Source references
The Net - Sandra Bullock, what else can be said :) -- but don't bother with the sequel - it sucked
Takedown - Very skewed and one sided movie about Mitnick. Entertaining but full of holes and inaccuracies. John Markoff is a tool.

Also check archive.org and any of the Computer Chronicles episodes are great!

Thanks for the tip..

He talks to everybody, and explains a whole lot. It's amazing.
He gets Bill Gates, Steve Jobs [he says some AMAZING STUFF], Dr. Roberts [Altair], Larry Ellison [Oracle] etc etc in front of his camera.

It's a must see.
Again, it's not about FOSS, but about the period before that.
