Hi everyone,

I decided to install Lucid on my laptop today, a Dell Latitude D600. I was installing via a CD I burned, and selected the boot from CD with help option. It finished the process, I rebooted, and found the laptop shutting down five seconds after I turned it on. The initial bar fills up and the machine just turns off. I've tried pressing esc and other buttons to get to one of the boot menus, but I can't get any response from it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
RMG

Did you check the md5 sums and try it in a Live CD mode to see that it actually works on your hardware.

I'm sorry, I don't know what an md5 sum is.
However, I did install it first in Wubi and it worked, though it was a bit slow. So I uninstalled it and planned to partition the harddrive and do a full installation instead.
