Hi all,
I have a dell studio 1555 that I've had 9.04, and 9.10 on with no problems I upgraded to 10.04 last week, and now I'm noticing my hard drive area is very hot. I have an infrared thermometer and I read the bottom hard drive area of my laptop at 121.3F. hddtemp reads it as 73C or 161 in F. This is obviously not good and I don't know what would be causing it. The rest of the laptop feels cool. The exhaust air for cpu and gpu is cool to the touch. Any idea what could be causing this?

If it is like you say it is not a good thing...install iotop (is a top like app for disk usage) and see who is using the disk that way.

sudo apt-get install iotop
