The screen will do that when the computer gets totally overloaded and can't process anything more. Generally it then freezes up, so you're getting off easy. :D

Do you have enough system and video memory for those complex effects? Enough processor power? The optimum graphics driver for your setup?

Hi, I am experiencing the same problem and it is definitely not the system hanging up.

you need either:

- check with an other theme (a less buggy one ;))
- look at htop which apps is eating ram

With that setup, you're right. Plenty of resources! Pulled-out-of-thin-air idea #2: memory conflict?? Unfortunately, I don't know how you'd go about diagnosing that.

seems it's been resolved All's well that ends well. I meant something like both trying to access the same interrupt or memory address or something. Anyway, luckily, it's no longer a concern.
