I have installed U10.04 which includes Firefox 3.6.3 which apparently needs Java but does not have it. So I want to install Java. I have downloaded jre-6u20-linux-i586.bin but I do not know what to do with it. Someone please educate me.

The latest version of sun-java is in Ubuntu partner repository.

You could also install java from the file you downloaded, but that requires some CLI, whereas the way I suggested is point and click.
