just over 6 months ago when karmic was released i attempted to upgrade however i had the problem that for whatever reason i couldn't get any network connections either wired or wireless. After spending some time looking for a an answer and coming up empty i gave up and settled with jaunty for another 6 months figuring id just upgrade to lucid when it was released. However i still seem to be getting the same problem with this. No wired or wireless network connection. What on earth could be causing it?

What kind of wired and wireless modem are you using and check to see if it shows up under system>preferences>hardware information
if its not there, it doesn't see it so clean out the slot it goes in

it doesn't see it but its got nothing to do with a bad connection. I currently dual-boot both ubuntu Jaunty and windows vista both of which have no problems with either. Was there a big change made from karmic onwards that would affect this as that is when the problem first occurred.
