View Full Version : [SOLVED] Installation problem

I downloaded and burned an image of 10.04.

I can't get it to install on this Vista 64 Ultimate machine. This is a recent build with a Phenom x3, a ECS A780GM-A Ultra Black series mobo and onboard HD 3200 video.

After several minutes a box appears indicating that there is an unrecoverable error and continues on to load the Live version. It seems that Ubuntu can't find my Vista 64.

The same disc works fine on my wife's 32 bit Vista Ultamate machine although the build is totally different. So I went back and tried to install 9.04 from a factory disc and I get the same problem. Won't install, boots to Live version and there is an indication that no OS is present.

Any suggestions where to look for the problem? I am not versed in Linux; so any suggestions have to be in simple english.

TIA,

Wayne

I was able to get 10.04 working on this machine using the wubi application that was on my download disc.

On my wife's machine I just inserted the disc with no selection from the disc menu.
