search amazon for shell programming.

But you don't need a book, there a plenty of available resources.

Where do I find these resources?

-1 fail, follow these steps carefully.
go to www.google.com
enter "linux shell scripting" in the search
the first couple pages should keep you occupied for a while

Here is the book I started with.

Personally, I benefited greatly from reading O'Reilly's "Learning The Bash Shell". I found it well written and with coverage of some useful areas that I wouldn't have known to study on my own.

As a beginner, I recommend you stay away from the Advanced bash-scripting guide and google.

These are good online resources for learning bash:

This one is good. I managed to find it cheap at a local store. Only 10 bucks for me.
