Hi,

Do you have any experience with monitoring another user's activity (the user is running windows 7) from within Ubuntu?

I do not want him to know that I am monitoring him nor I want the anti-virus software I setup for him detect my monitoring activities. I only need the read-only viewing and reporting and not read-write access to his system.

Note: I will setup his windows and anti-virus myself.

Thanks.

As long as the "target" doesn't know he's being monitored, I believe it's, you know, illegal...

I don't believe so. If both computers are yours, then you have right to do so.

this is legally and ethically questionable...

By reading OP I think it's not his computer. And despite this, moral aside, you cannot monitor someone's computer usage. It may be ok if it's just statistical stuff like amount of bandwidth used or memory, but if you can read the user's data or input, it's a no-no.

Locking this post as there is no way to know if the OP is acting in a legal or illegal manner.
