I have installed everything needed but dockbar still looks normal no change what have I done wrong?

I even grabbed the suggested stuff from synaptic package manager

Then, right click a gnome panel, select "Add to panel" and then add DockBarX.

You say that "dockbar still looks normal", but I'm not sure what that means. If you have added it to the panel, have you tried right-clicking several areas on that panel looking to see if there's some config option? It's possible that nothing shows up right away, but instead it needs you yo find it and then configure it (poor design though, if that's the case).

I'd just like to say that this question was very helpful to me. I had no idea that you had to ADD DockbarX to the Panel. I thought it would replace the panel. Thanks!
