Hi, I'm newish to Ubuntu I had it before but no longer than 2 weeks and that was version 9.10, now I'm on 10.04.

What I am stuck on though is that my last operating system was XP and I used transfer wizard to transfer all of my files I then put them onto my external, I then formatted the hard drive and installed 10.04. I have all of the transferred files but how do I transfer them to Ubuntu?

There in DAT format? Any idea guys?

Sorry if I posted in the wrong section :|.

When you plug your external drive in does it show up? I take it you formatted this external drive with a Windows type filesystem ... FAT or NTFS?

It's FAT32, it does show up, but it's not the external I'm having problems with, it's the files themselves the Window's XP transfer wizard put it into a weird format I don't know how to import into Ubuntu.
