Does anyone know how I can fix this splash screen? I've tried changing resolutions and color depths. No go. I also tried the instructions from here.

lol.. you've got the same *cobwebs* thing that I have when I boot Ubuntu (Gnome). I have no idea what it's "supposed" to look like.

Lubuntu has a tasteful and small logo with square dots, but I would still just as soon be rid of all logon junk that isn't needed. I've been told, however, that simply uninstalling Plymouth is not an option.

Got to say, though, that Lucid is the very best distro I've ever used. Kudos to the devs!

I believe Kubuntu is using Plymouth for its splash screen, if that's the case you can google for how to change it to something else. Its pretty easy.
Having said that, it could be a video card issue. I know on mine (ATI hd3200) I can only run certain splash screens, the others give me ugly multicolored lines instead of an actual screen.

Something else is going on since all themes give the same results.
