Hi all,

I was just wondering if there are any options to add a quick launcher to the right-click menu on gnome.

For example on windows when you right-click on the desktop you can choose "new" and then a type of program like open office. It is not really a program but rather a template. It let you create a new file for example if i wanted a new text document it would create a new file with the .odt extention.

I searched google and ubuntu but i did not find anything on how to create these things. Can someone help me out? Thanks

you can do nautilus scripts
or
install nautilus-actions

i prefer nautilus scripts myself.
you just put scripts in ~/.gnome2/nautilus-scripts which is a hidden folder in your home directory press ctrl+h to see hidden.

for files i just use the Template folder, what ever files you put in there will be under create.

Thank you for your answer. Am i to understand that if i add a empty .odt file it will create a shortcut to template menu?

And do you have an example of a script? I'm pretty new at this stuff.

Hi all,

This topic may be closed. I have found the template folder and placed a file in it. The file appeared then on menu.

Thank you for the information and i have learned a new thing.
