Hi there,

This is my second install of Ubuntu 10.04 on my Acer machine - I was running 9.10 and everything worked excellent. Upon my install of 10.04, I get to the install screen no problem. When it reboots, I get "GPU lockup, switching to software fbcon". After that, the screen freezes, brings up a scrambled desktop of my Windows 7 install, or just falls to a white screen. When I initialize in failsafe graphics mode, I have downloaded both the NVIDIA drivers version 173, and the "current" version. The "current version" install causes the startup screen to go pink and almost show up in a DOS format, telling me what it's doing before loading into the desktop. Version 173 is better, but the startup screen goes into a much lower resolution before hitting the desktop.

Can someone tell me how I can fix this possibly? (I'm also getting a WIN error, Acer-wpi no or not supported or something like that, which is new to this version as well.)

Thank you so much.
