Ok, how do I get the graphical interface of Ubuntu? I had to do an alternative install on an old Thinkpad, now I'm wanting to having it boot into a graphical interface. What command do I need to type to do this? Is there a way to permanently get it to boot to the graphics?

Thanks!

Did you select "command line system only"?

Otherwise, the alternate disc should install the same desktop as the regular live cd. Something probably went wrong.

Verify the checksum of your iso, reburn the cd, try installing again.

I had to have it connected to the internet to get the graphical interface. When it wasn't connected I got the command line. I did check and it was set to normal. Guess it needed some files off the net. Everything is fine now, and getting everything setup.

I've installed v10 on a 10 year old Thinkpad. :) The computer is slow compared to my Macbook, but it's nice to have something dedicated to word processing, etc.
