Installing Kubuntu

I have Karmic Ubuntu and i wanna try the KDE version of lucid instead of Gnome,i have root in a separate partition,what do i do now?
I suppose i format the root partition and install with live cd kubuntu's root there.
Is there anything i should know? i presume most configurations are in Home which i have separated it from root so its ok right?

You actually can just add KDE to Gnome. You don't have to install it on a separate partition:
