When I went to reinstall I couldn't find a large enough continuous disk space to do it.

I wound up reformatting my disk

since I do not have the Window XP disks, my dual boot is gone.

now I cannot run SolidWorks which I use for work

I'm really disappointed by this.

im in the same boat as you, 10.04 LTS is a pig. having browser issues and all around slow. i tried to do a repair from a live CD but it did nothing. i want to go back to 9.10. ill try 10.04 after its been out longer.

you can get the previous versions off the mirror sites

http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors#mirrors

make sure you backup your data

looks like the only way of installing a previous version is to reformat your disk
