Hey guys, here's the story: Yesterday I was updating from Karmic to Lucid and during the installaion of the new packages (openoffice.org calc specifically) my system froze. After leaving it on afternight it was still stuck at 51% so I switched the computer off. Obviously once I turned it on there were some errors and it wouldn't boot up. I then dug up a Jaunty live cd and attempted to format the hard drive to ext3. It kept giving out an error which said "Device or resource busy". I tried the installation wizard and used the entire hard drive option for installation but during the partitioning process it was stuck at 5% (I'm guessing for the same reason why it wouldn't format in gparted)

What can I do now to basically install Ubuntu?

Thanks
