Hello , I just upgraded to the newer version of ubuntu , I took the half of the day to download and install
after installing it asked to restart so I restarted my pc
then after restarting the boot menu was containing

1- windows XP professional
2- Ubuntu

I choosed Ubuntu
and after I pressed the Enter button , the pc restarted itself at once
I tried again and again , but nothing new , just restarting

so now what ? I lost the old and the new version of ubuntu or what ?

Hope you could help me ,
Thanks

You're dual booting with XP correct? Did you upgrade from Karmic or do a clean install?

Do you have only 1 hard drive? Does Windows boot OK.

My issue was with multiple drives and grub was installed on separate drive. Changed drive order in BIOS and all was well. I can only suggest what I've experienced so I'm not sure I'm much help.

If I run across something I'll post back. Don't give up! Your data should still be there. You just need someone more experienced than me to help.

It might be that grub is pointing to the wrong partition. Sorry I'm not much help.
