Hi there,

I noticed some strange behavior of my two Ubuntu machines. Both of my machines run Karmic. Whenever I perform kernel upgrade on a desktop computer (as a part of a regular apt-get ugrade), the relevant kernel packages are simply replaced by newer versions, and the number of entries in my GRUB menu stays unchanged.

However, on my laptop, things are different. New kernel packaged are installed *alongside* the existing ones, and the number of Ubuntu entries in my GRUB menu doubles up.

It truly amazes me, as I'm not aware of any different update settings on those computers. Anyway, I prefer the first described behavior (replacement) to the second one. How do I change it? Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help.
