In lucid KUbuntu firefox integrates with kde if you install it via the firefox installer.

There is an application named firefox installer included by default in KUbuntu . If you install firefox using that, the package that provides the firefox integration will be automatically installed . If you install using apt-get firefox , you will have to install that package too . KUbuntu is getting really promising , I think .

Kubuntu had it for quite some time as well it's just that previously you had to install the additional packages manually from ppa.

Yes . The KUbuntu people developed the openoffice integration at that time .
