As soon as I install Ubuntu (9.10 and 10.04, as far as I know) my card and everything works fine.

It then bugs me to install the restricted (or just the new video driver) and once I do, I get tiny black squares all over my windows and window borders, as seen here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1370292

I really want to run compiz and I was told over and over again that I shouldn't install the nVidia driver from the website, I should stay with that one. Has this been reported before? If not what should I try?

This is what is in my computer (all newegg items):

I'd really enjoy getting Ubuntu to work on my new machine, it works great on my old one and I really miss Ubuntu and it annoys me so much that I can't get it to work properly anymore.
