View Full Version : [ubuntu] Could Not Acquire Name On Session Bus

Hey all,
I'm fresh from upgrading from Karmic to Lucid.
It went swimmingly by and large, however, when I log in I'm greeted with the error box:

"Could not acquire name on session bus".

I have no idea what this means or how to solve it. If I close the error box it immediately pops up again AND relaunches all the programs that are set to launch on startup, leaving me with two instances of everything. If I leave the error alone I don't have any problems, but still, this should not be.:)

Any ideas or advice would be most welcome!

Thanks,
RMG

P.S., oh and in a twofer, I discovered that Rhythmbox crashes on startup now.

Hi forum,

Hi Rosemachinegun,

first of all i apologize for my bad english.

After updating from 9.10 to 10.04 LTS i got the same error direct after log in. If I close the error panel many tasks of one or more programs are started. If i dont close the error panel evolution and pidgin are not able to run.

dmesg results one error
ehci_hcd 0000:01:09.2: startup error -19

Xorg.log and messages has no errors

Any help would be welcome

Bye,

ceridwen

Hi Ceridwen, it sounds like your version of this error is worse than mine. Evolution and Pidgin still work for me. Can you use Empathy instead of Pidgin?
