How can i specify a margin for applications

I need to put a margin just like of the panels, you cant put an application over it. I need have conky and i want no other program get over it, i want a reserved area for an application. Please help!

I second this desire, but I don't think there are any easy ways of doing this. Personally, I'd just like my display to act more like Mac OSX (now that I'm using Docky (regrettably coded in C#) )
