Please, help somebody :(

Well, I got helped from another forum, an update I downloaded is not completed I could say. GRUB2 is installed, but that GRUB2 is a wrong version. Someone tell me step-by-step how to delete GRUB2 and install GRUB older.

Uninstalling GRUB 2

Reverting to GRUB Legacy

If a user chooses to return to GRUB legacy (0.97), these steps will remove GRUB 2 and install GRUB.

down near the bottom of the page
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2

I think that you should just stick with grub2 and try and figure out what you did wrong. I suggest that you download the bootinfo script from sourceforge and post the output with your reply
http://bootinfoscript.sourceforge.net/

There it is.

Help, I need working Ubuntu really fast.

I still got GRUB2 and it loads a bash-like text mode. I would even want to burn Super Grub Disk but it is unpossible through LiveCD and Ubuntu doesn't read floppies.

You wrote grub2 to your windows partition instead of the MBR

Boot sector info: Grub 2 is installed in the boot sector of sda2 and

Follow the instructions in the following link to install grub2 to your MBR

When I boot my machine up, I first get the legacy grub, ver 1.97 beta, that points to 9.10. I then have to shutdown and reboot. The second time I do this, I get the grub I want, ver 1.98, which points to ver 10.4 of ubuntu. I have to boot twice every time in order to get to the correct grub. 10.4 lives on an external USB drive while 9.10 lives on the internal drive. My hardware: Dell Inspiron e1505 with 2gb ram, internal 100gb sata drive and 120gb external USB drive. I realize the info below is a lot of data to sift through, but I am hoping someone far smarter than I am will be able to see where I am going wrong.

Results of boot script:

scyntax, would you please open a new thread and repost results there by pasting the text in between code tags -- i.e. click on the # sign in the reply box and paste in between the brakets ] [

I would be happy to, however, I don't quite understand what you want me to do. Should I repost the entire question with the test results in brackets? What does that accomplish? Thank you.

Yes, if you go to http://art.ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=333

Push the button that says "new thread". Once in your own thread push the "#" sign in the message editor. It will put something like this (code)(/code), but with brackets [ ] [ ] Copy and paste your text from results.txt between those brakets.

You will get more people to look at your problem, than those that will look at this post.
