I have a Dell Poweredge 830 PC. It has 1GB of ram and I am trying to install Ubuntu on either an IDE drive or a SATA drive. When I use the CD-Rom to install the operating system the system freezes right after I choose to install from the initial boot up screen. If I try the install from the USB key it actually gets me past the initial screen to install after choosing to install, but drops me into a live CD session. From there I am not able to initiate the install process. I am not sure if this is a Dell thing or an Ubuntu on Dell issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been trying numerous things from the board with no resolve.

Tried to drop my resolution on the monitor from the install menu.

I tried the alternate install method

I tried lowering the burn speed on the CD's

I am just at a loss.

I thought that I may need to keep a startup option from starting on install, but I have no idea which one it might be.
