OK, so my beloved Iaudio U2 finally died about a week ago and I'm looking for a new player. The i9 looks very nice to me but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience updating the firmware of recent Iaudio players from Linux? Is it a matter of dragging and dropping a bin file to some firmware directory or is Wine required?

I own the e2 and for that I just download the firmware file from cowon, drop it on the player then restart and it updates itself. Not sure on the i9 but guessing most cowons will be the same, they're usually pretty good for supporting linux

I ordered the 16Gb version. That should allow me to encode everything to OGG @ quality 7 or 8.

you'd be amazed how quickly 16GB can disappear
