Wave plasma theme :D...I just found out that when you put a top panel and maximice it, it turns transparent. The one below stays dark. The plasmoids are an application launcher, xbar, and digital clock.

I swear the threads get made earlier and earlier each month.

Not much different from my last screenshot. I made the panel smaller and brought back the tri-menu. Then I decided to start tinkering with my Emerald theme.

I would change the normal color of toolbar buttons dark on dark is hard to see.

100% agreed. They would look lovely in a lighter color. But I just cant find the way to change them at the advanced icon system settings.

Other option would be using text only buttons... which also look good and the white text looks better

I put my website shortcuts on it.There's no other panel capable of that.(as far as I know).Besides, there isn't much difference in resources between, say, lxpanel or tint.It does drag in dependencies though.

Dock Bar X (http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/DockbarX?content=101604), and using a Main Menu button as oppose to the standard Menu Bar.

Remove the gnome-panel at the top and make the bottom one around 37-42 pixels high.

I'm using Glassified (http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Glassified+theme+for+DockbarX+0.21.11?content=1092 83) Dock Bar X theme, but Shinybar (http://levviathor.deviantart.com/art/Shinybar1-3-for-DockbarX-135875506) theme replicates Windows 7's superbar, and includes a panel background that looks like the aero-style used by Windows 7.

Hope that helps. :)

Dockbar X

Launchers and menu on side panel (wish it was more scalable - 32 is too small and 48 is TOO BIG)

Minimal conky - I no longer need weather, as my phone has a weather widget that's a lot more reliable than that rubbish from weather.com.

AWN down the bottom just for a systray/notification area.

Dust theme with Wesselaar Icon set.

Since I started my new job this week I had been using the Win 7 partition on my notebook for work till we move to a new office and I get my own desktop, but doesn't mean I haven't been missing some Ubuntu 10.04 action. I have kept my 10.04 installs th same (default theme one with Radiance and two with Ambiance themes) since last month so no changes there at all, but here is my Win 7 setup.

My office computer with a bog-standard 10.04 install. Only changes are removal of social application icons, wallpaper change, switch from Ambiance to Radiance theme and returning min-max-close buttons to where God intended them to be ;) . The default look is quite nice (IMHO) - this is the least amount of customizing I've ever done with a new install.

Nice job, narf!! :)
Loving the tones and lines. Your themes often have this sterile, almost Bauhausian feel, although I'd prefer if the top window edges were not rounded in this one.
What font are you using for the "Datei", "Bearbeiten",... etc??

I'd like to disable the menu bar icon and window list icons so it's all text across the panel, as well as make the background in nautilus transparent (not the back/forward/location bar area, and not using opacity in ccsm) so if anyone could point me in the right direction for that, it'd be much appreciated!

As far as I remember, if you right click on the menu icon, you can right click on it and click 'remove from panel' or something similar. I'm pretty sure in the panel preferences or something there is an option for text only but I might be wrong.

Edited the Ambiance-NautilusMod theme to be dark. I just thought that Ambiance looks really good fully dark but when changing the colours from the appearance preferences some things just looked wrong (buttons for one). I also purged the orangeness of various things and made them purple for less contrast.

Theme attached for anyone interested. Constructive and/or destructive criticism is always welcome.

Current netbook desktop running lucid. If I could ask one thing of the Ubuntu team it's simply this: Please, for the love of science, get rid of that horrible maximus/netbook launcher rubbish.

Terminal is a transparent gnome term using custom window rules set by compiz config manager. Dock is AWN. I still need to find a nicer icon set though :)

My apologies. I don't really understand what you're after in the menu area then.

There's 2 applets for menus on the panel, Main Menu which is just the icon, and Menu Bar which is the icon, Applications, Places, System. What I want is to remove the icon so it just says Applications Places System. Additionally, disabling the program icons in the Window List applet, so it just says the program name.
