Does anyone know if there are any plans to update the Xgl & Compiz packages on the Dapper repositories?

The current ones are very good, but they are causing some difficulties, in particular window boarder trouble and Mplayer problems with Xv.

It would be really cool if they could just improve a tiny bit!!!;)

Still way cool eye candy, even as they are!\\:D/

No, they won't be updated on the official repositories. You should used the instructions here:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CompositeManager

A lot of bugs have been worked out and some new features added.

As long as you know what you are doing for the most part, the third party XGL and Compiz packages provided there are the best thing in Linuxland. The updates just keep rolling in.....
