Hi, If I upgrade to Ubuntu 10.04 via the update manager do I lose any of my programs and files, and will some of my programs no-longer work?

Also is it best to do a clean install instead of upgrading, like in windows.

Upgrading in Ubuntu should be fine! You get to keep your documents and programs.
You might have some trouble with a program or two but you should be okay.
Clean installs are more troublesome considering the trouble of reinstalling programs and
moving documents back into the right place.

Thanks, also how big a download would the upgrade be?

upgrading in ubuntu is a tricky business, but it seems like upgrading to 10.04 should be ok...
