9.10 to 10.4

Hi All,
Got me a small problem, been using 10.4RC which worked perfect. Just installed the release version on a clean drive, install went ok and the live cd worked great but after install and reboot there are no menus or anything, just the default background, any ideas as what went wrong?? thanks

Using KDE? If so, rename the .kde folder and restart.

Thanks for the fast response, i am running gnome, and the only thing that will work is the help key. cant get a terminal or anything to type into.
