Restricted extras slooooowww....

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Fresh Install of lucid today,everything went fine. Installed compiz, fine, now I'm downloading the restricted extras through synaptic and wow, its going 10 to 20 kB/s. Tried downloading a file from cnet, no problem. 800+ kB/s. Think this is just related to heavy volume today?

Yes and you can expect it to be that way for a good week or more.
I did all my updates last night at 11:00 pm and wont do any more for at least a week.

I did a fresh install on a new drive from ISO image on a CD. Install still took two hours, whereas Karmic took about 20 min. Any added packages through Synaptic (ie samba, gimp), are VERY slow (~250 bytes/sec). Can only assume traffic on the servers. Other than that, may have an issue with nVidia driver install, but will wait to post on that.

Thats what I figured. Funny thing is I downloaded the iso @ around 4 p.m. (est). in like ten minutes. Thanks
