View Full Version : [ubuntu] Update/Upgrade from 10.04 RC caused a schizoid break

I was running the release candidate, and everything was working swimmingly.

Figuring that there would be some updates released at the same time as the official release, I renewed and updated. There were 152 updates, though I wasn't surprised, as I figured it was mostly final tweaks for the big release.

At the end, a message box popped up saying I needed to restart to complete the update, so I clicked 'ok,' and waited for the restart.

When the GRUB menu came up, it now said I had two different installations of 10.04, one of them ending in .21 and the other .22.

And neither of them will boot! Both just hang at the splash screen with Ubuntu and four dots beneath it. If I try a recovery boot, I can get both of them to boot into a command line, but can't start X on either of them.

Any idea how to get this unscrewed?
