View Full Version : [ubuntu] Upgrade to 10.04 says "Unable to download release noted"

I've ensured that all current 9.10 updates have been installed, then tried to upgrade to 10.04.

The message "Unable to download release notes - please check your internet connection" appears.

Clearly my internet connection is working - I'm posting this!

I have had problems with Network Manager in the past (it is less problematic recently - see bug #481432 for details).

Anyone else had this problem? If so, how do I get the upgrade started?

Thanks!

Ok it's working for me now. I installed the latest update, then restarted my computer

you first had problems upgrading and then it worked. you said that you did an update? was that on 9.10?
I am just installing and right now updating 9.10 and am hoping to do an upgrade to 10.04 as the VMware Tools app does not work in the new release but I am hoping that by upgrading that that it will carry forward from 9.10.
anyone see a problem with this????

People who had this problem while updating to 9.10 say that it's because the Ubuntu distribution servers are overloaded. This should fix itself in a few days.

I too have the same problem. I started updating, it downloaded a few files and then my internet connection failed. I haven't been able to resume it, that message keeps popping up. :)
