Mythbuntu recommends Nvidia 8000 series GPU, but I wanted to try the onboard ATi (w/ HDMI) to see if it will work. Confirmed functionality of chosen tuner card. Will also serve as a NAS, so RAID 0 setup on the WD Blacks. Any input would be greatly appreciated. :)

I think he's trying to say that 109.99 -10.00 =/= 199.98? :D

Looks good to me, just make sure you have functioning video drivers.

The HVR 1600 has done me right. You have superfluous memory, but not really a problem.

did 9.10 have ATI issues?

that's for two of those drives there champ :) I read that the front display on the case does not work in Linux and is more like a bright *** nightlight...will probably just disconnect it for a while and keep my eyes peeled for an operable update

I've been itching to build one of these for a while, but I think you STILL can't get the tuner to pick up the premium digital channels over cable because that cable card standard that congress mandated cable carriers support never materialized and has not been enforced.

You might want to go for a set of 3 WD15EARS green 1.5 TB drives. Same price as the WD10FALS but 50% more capacity. If you get 3 and put them in a raid5 instead of raid0, you will have 3 Tb of usable space and can tolerate one of the drives failing.

no way...5400rpm drives ftl...plus I dont care enough about my data to go RAID5 so RAID0 will do...2TB is well more than Ill need. It took me 2 years to fill up a 500GB HD :)

They are 7200 rpm, they just slow down to 5400 when idle to save power.

You talked me into it :) These were made for PVRs

but for the same price go green @ 2TB

I was under the misconception that WD green drives were 5400...I see that's just for that one model on the 1TB line

IIRC newegg mistakenly listed one of them as 5400 rpm, but they are 5400-7200 rpm according to WD's specs. After 8 seconds of no activity they automatically unload the head and reduce rpm to 5400 to save power, but otherwise they run at 7200 rpm and have pretty good throughput, about the same if not slightly higher than both of my first generation 36 gig 10,000 rpm raptors together.
