The release will officially be announced on the mailing list. Changes may occur until then, even if the website, servers, torrents etc appear to already be updated.

Yes, please don't update until the announcement is posted. The ISOs may not be completely uploaded yet.

When it happens.

No, seriously. I'm sure they're working hard to get it out as soon as possible, but it's not always possible to put a time limit on these things.

I'd still recommend that you wait a bit.

Has the release been announced on the mailing list?

No, it hasn't.

Therefore, it isn't released yet. You should wait until it is before upgrading or downloading an iso, as nothing is final until then.

This could potentially be a glitch. I just checked my update manager (though I'm planning a clean install) and had no announcement. While it could potentially be fine it's always best to walk on the side of caution and wait for an official thumbs up.

Yeah, I'm waiting for the official announcement on the site, and similar. The files -may- be floating around, but I'd rather not risk it. I'm sure there will be a release before the end of the day, so sit tight and wait :D

It is, but it looks like a critical Day-Zero bug has been found, so the release will be delayed for a few hours. Please be patient, for your own sake.

'update-manager -d' will look for the latest development release
you should use 'update-manager -c'

Yes, and Lucid has been delayed for a few hours because of this.

'update-manager -d' will look for the latest developer release

Oops, missed the -d.

@Dr-a: What you're looking at is the development release, you should run "update-manager -c" to check for a new stable release, or just be patient.

Before downloading an ISO, yes. Before upgrading? That would be silly. Actually, if you want to upgrade, it's probably better to do it now, before the servers get overloaded.

This is still Linux. Bugs are commonplace. They will fix it.

Lucid is delayed due to a last-minute issue and some images are being rebuilt. Please go to the ubuntu-announce mailing list (https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-announce) for release notification.
