View Full Version : [SOLVED] Grub kernal question

I initially upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10 and then had a problem and I had to reinstall 9.10 from the cd. Before the cd install, I had a nice fast grub boot with two lines, kernal and recovery,
but then after the cd install I ended up with six kernal lines. After deleting the old kernals, I ended up with two options on the Grub screen.

Ubuntu, Linux 2.6.31-20 gen
""""""""""""""""""""""" recovery

Ubuntu 9.10 Kernal 2.6.31-20 gen (on /dev/sdb6)
"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" recovery (on /dev/sdb6)

which appear to be the same kernal, but in different locations?

I didn't reformat anything when I installed with the cd, (it reformatted the swap file).

Have I got two kernals trying to run my system, and can I correct this? My guess is that one is leftover from the upgrade install, but I don't know how to straighten this out.

Thanks Bob
