View Full Version : [ubuntu] ATI Radeon 7000 - how to keep original display drivers

I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 on an old celeron machine that only needs to display one webpage all day on a large LCD.

When I run ubuntu 9.10 in LiveCD mode, it all works perfectly on dual displays. However, when I install it to the HD, it all runs perfectly until I do a full set of updates. After this, the second display (the large LCD) no longer works.

I know the old Radeon 7000 is the issue - and Ive had exactly the same thing on another PC of mine with a 9550. My questions are:

1) What EXACTLY is it I need to stop updating so I can keep the same drivers I used immediately after the first install? They work perfectly, so I dont want them updated.

2) Is there any way to 'roll back' these drivers after I've done an update if I find they dont work? This is less important, but would be nice to know.

Thanks for any help you can offer!
