Hi everyone. I have a grub problem. Can some smart person please shed some light on what's going on and how to fix it?

I'll try to be both as brief and detailed as possible.

I have two operating systems on my first hard drive: Windows and Ubuntu 9.04. On my second hard drive I have a partition for general storage, and one for Ubuntu 10.04 (used to be Ubuntu 9.10).

My boot loader, grub, was originally controlled by Ubuntu 9.04. Recently, when I upgraded 9.10 to 10.04, I also downgraded Grub 2 down to Grub legacy, because Grub 2 was having big problems with my two hard drives. And now grub (legacy) from Ubuntu 10.04 on my second hard drive is my real boot loader.

Booting to Ubuntu 9.04 (second OS on first hard drive) works fine. Booting to Ubuntu 10.04 (OS on second hard drive) also works fine. But now booting to Windows (first OS on first hard drive) gives an error: "Starting up ... Geom Error".

What's the deal?

(the kids want to play Midtown Madness)

Thanks a lot.

temp fix: run wine?

I would consider that, but this is an old computer and Midtown Madness already just barely works.
