Unable to login to 10.04 RC

I've tried to test 10.04. One, by upgrading a working KK installation. The other, was a fresh install. Both were as VMWare virtual machines.

Both installs had the same problem. The install/upgrade process goes smoothly. When the GUI logon screen appears & I click on the user name, I'm unable to type in the password box. Nothing appears. If I then click "continue", the result is "authentication failure".

Any ideas?

Typically if you have non-repo software installed or apps from ppa then you may have issues in the upgrade process.

Bets process is to back up and re-install.

These are just basic, clean installs. No other software except what comes with the OS.
