I love Compiz, I really do. But Emerald sucks hard, and its themes suck harder.

I've only found a few that I can use for any extended period of time:

(Only after shrinking the giant title bar)

99% of the time, I use Dark and Nameless.

Can anybody recommend some nice, sensible Emerald themes?

I hate the totally transparent, reflective, glassy crap. I have nothing against color, I just haven't seen it done well yet.

Emerald themes are supposed be glassy and reflective ; perhaps you should switch to GTK.2x

Well, I'm not using Gnome (or any DE), so using the gtk-window-decorator is out. I'm stuck with Emerald.

I find it amazing that there are so few nice Emerald themes, and so many nice Metacity themes. It's like the extra flexibility of Emerald causes people to put gradients between blue and red in semi-transparency in the titlebar.

I always figured the more popular Metacity themes would eventually be ported over to Compiz. I don't really use Emerald as they tend to look tacky or clash with the rest of my theme. All I'd need is a nice port of the Elementary or Equinox themes. Maybe I should give it a shot... /lazy.

EDIT: Elementary themes actually do exist. Cool. :D

Thanks for those suggestions. I used to used Scaled Mod Black, with less transparency and smaller edges, which was nice. I also tried Elegant Brit, but I don't remember liking it. I'll give it another try.

Also, Archiplex looks nice. I'll keep that one around.
