View Full Version : Want to dual boot Windows 3.1/95 with Linux?

I found that when googling something, I think it needs a bit of an update :)



Frankly, if you want to do this I would recommend using LILO. However, if you really do not want to use LILO, you will have to boot to Win 3.x first, then issue the Loadlin command. (Make sure Windows 3.x
is NOT running, but that you are in DOS 5.0 or 6.x).

Definately a lil outdated. A Win 3.1 box probably won't run many if any of the linux distro's today. :p

Not necessarily true. I did it last week for a guy. But, it was a pretty sweet box. 2 core Pentium 3 with 1Gb ram. The box runs MSDOS-6, Win3.1 and Hardy. But certainly keep in mind, older distros typically have lower system requirements.

I haven't run Win 3.1 in years, mainly because it is on floppies, and I haven't had a floppy drive installed for years. I have run Win95, 98 and ME in virtual box, it was fun for a day or so, but that was it.

So you want to find up to date info about Microsoft Windows 3.11 on Ubuntu Forum, year 2010...

I can't find all my win 3.1 floppies. I wish i could :/
