Can anyone tell me the root or default password so that I can log into my Mythbuntu box. I found this page but it was of no help though. It told me that I can't log in using the Mythtv account. Hope he's wrong. http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/ubuntu-linux-root-password-default-password/
This all came about because Myth wouldn't recognise any usb devices I attached. A bit of yahooing got me a little info. If I used the login instead of the auto login, usb devices would not be recognised. So I installed gdm2 and obviously set it wrong. Which brings me back to what the heck is the password that I didn't set.
Failing getting the correct password. How can I get passed the login screen.

There is no root/default password, just the user and password that you set up during installation.

Ok this one solve itself. Once I took the time to look at it. First up gdm2 installed correctly and did what it was supposed to do. I however did not. I have only one arm so when I type I'm looking at the keyboard.
So what I was doing was logging and typeing the password in the login field press enter look up at the screen and only see an empty password box. That teaches me to mess around with my system at 2 in the morning.
I still want to be able to automatically login to Mythtv. I might start a new tread for that one.
Thanks for the post. Hope I didn't waste your time.
