View Full Version : [ubuntu] Graphics choppy on Acer Aspire one with Lucid

I am currently trying out the RC1 version of Ubuntu 10.04 and have found on the Acer Aspire one (intel 945 graphics card) the desktop environment is choppy.

For example any open windows that are dragged are choppy / stuttering to move for the first couple of seconds then its ok.

Also flash based video is stuttery in a small window, yet if I full screen video then it plays ok.

If I use the 10.04 RC1 CD and boot up live then this works fine with the above.

So what is the difference if running from installation and not from CD ?

For anyone remotely interested, I searched the current bug list for lucid and there are s*** loads of bugs with the intel 945 gfx cards.

I doubt if these will be fixed by the time Lucid is released, so for now I have gone back to 9.10.

I will certainly upgrade when these bugs are fixed.

But just a heads up for most net book users, since most of these are intel based gfx cards.
