I love Ubuntu its what i started to use when i switched from Windows to linux but now i wanted to ask is Kubuntu as supported as Ubuntu with same updates ?

does it run well ?

i went to the kubuntu site and the forums are so hard to understand and the site is hard to use its an old outdated version of MKPortal (http://www.mkportal.it/) from 2006 kind of made me feel like kubuntu is not getting any love.

maybe its just me lol

i would like to try this flavor just do not want to get into something that people do not use if you understand what i am saying.

thanks for any info :)

Lots of people use Kubuntu and it's still officially a first-class citizen of the Ubuntu world.

If you're already using Ubuntu, you can simply install the "kubuntu-desktop" metapackage and you'll have KDE and Gnome; you'll be able to switch between the two at the login screen.

Kubuntu is just Ubuntu with a different "skin" (KDE instead of Gnome). Both are equally well supported and share the same release cycle and repository of applications.

Gnome and KDE are not developed by Canonical, the company that creates Ubuntu. They are developed "upstream" by their respective projects:

http://gnome.org
http://kde.org

So check out some screenshots, and if you think you might like to try KDE, you can install the kubuntu-desktop "metapackage" and then select KDE from your login screen.

ps this is a very frequently asked question and you will find a ton of lively discussion on the subject if you look around. :)
