Hi all,
I recently upgraded 9.04 to 9.10 (32 bit but I also have a 64 bit partition).
I had the usual problems like no audio and some video had strange colors but I managed to fix that. Yesterday my Compiz crashed but I managed to continue working.
This morning when I booted all my desktop icons were gone. Only an icon with my Vista was shown but the rest was gone. I went to Places ---> Desktop but and everything there was gone. I have been through all the threads on this and other forums that mention this problem and tried several things but still the same situation.
I checked the settings of nautilus and compiz with gconf-editor. Seems ok.
I am mostly concerned because Places ---> Desktop is empty. Lots of people that also had no Desktop icons at least had Places ----> Desktop not empty.
I cannot believe that the folders and files that I had on my desktop are actually gone.
Is there a way they can be retrieved?
Does anybody has some advice for me?
Thanks
